Literature
Peele was known for his oil paintings of Australian and New Zealand scenic beauties. Born in London, 1846 or 1847, and moved to Geelong with his parents in 1852. Arrived in New Zealand in 1865. Worked as a banker until 1889, when he resigned because of deafness and took up painting as a profession.
Peele moved to o Australia in 1892, where he lived and taught in Adelaide and Melbourne until 1902, returning to New Zealand for the summer months. He returned permanently to New Zealand and died in Christchurch in 1905.
