Literature
William Henry Raworth (1821-1904) painted watercolour landscapes with a distinctly softened romanticism. He arrived in Lyttelton in 1850 as a surveyor. Later in life he travelled often between New Zealand, Australia and England, exhibiting large numbers of paintings in all three countries. His paintings are an excellent visual record of the days of early New Zealand settlement.
