Ian has an inventive style, representative of various aspects of everyday life, connected with a simplistic symbolism. Facial expressions are subtle, while symbolic of a range of emotions. The stylised people forms are phantasmal portraits combining a softness with stark reality.
Ian Kingstone was born in Auckland in 1942 and attended Camden Art Centre, London.
